Well, my week back to work after my vacation week wasn't so bad. Having four-day work weeks are great, actually. And now I only have two full weeks and one three-day week before my next vacation! ;)
On Thursday I went back to the eye doctor. My right eye is mostly back to normal, and my left eye is still blurry, but improving. My doctor says there have been several women in the past few weeks with the same problem, but we all use different brands of contacts and solutions. The one thing that's the same, though, is that all solutions have preservatives in them, so he thinks that might be causing it.
He said I could try a certain kind of solution that doesn't have the preservatives in it, or I could just go with the daily-wear lenses, where you don't have to use solution at all. And that's what I chose. He gave me a free 10-day supply with my prescription. They don't have the astigmatism part, but I can still see okay with them temporarily. I had them in all day yesterday, and they were pretty good. I definitely didn't have any redness or irritation, and I barely felt the other irritation that I've felt for the past few years, so that was wonderful.
He also told me he wasn't going to take any more co-pays...that the $100 I've already paid for two visits is good enough. My next week's visit will be my 6th, so that is really nice of him not to charge me anymore.
I was going to go christmas shopping in erie today, but I really have most of my shopping done...so I just decided to relax and stay home.

Busy day today...I had an appointment this morning, then did a lot of little errands around town. After that I came home and ate lunch. did some laundry and made some desserts for tomorrow. Then at 3:15 I had another eye doctor appointment.
Today I saw my regular eye doctor. The man I've seen the past two times is the other doctor in the building, because my doctor was on vacation. Anyway, I think he's figured out my problem. He said he's seen the exact same thing recently in two other girls who were close to my age and both contact-wearers.

The rest of my weekend after the all-nighter was good, too. On Saturday, after putting all my stuff away and eating some lunch, I slept from about 1 to 6. Then the rest of the night I sat around a bit and relaxed, but also worked on our human video that we're doing for Christmas, and also a bit on some other stuff for kids' church. It never ends...
Sunday was good. It was my week to not only lead the first hour like I always do, but also to teach the class part. I also wanted to start working on our christmas stuff, but we ran out of time. Next week, definitely. At the end, I brought all the kids into th adult service, because we were doing our ladies dance that we've been working on since about September. I think it went pretty well. I love the song we did. After church I stayed awhile getting Mark to help me wiht my new digital camera.
For church at night, we had a missionary. He was excellent and totally made me cry.
On Monday, my mom and I did some errands and a little bit of shopping. I actually got quite a bit of my Christmas shopping done! We ate lunch at Tim Horton's, which was really nice, too. Then at 4 I had a practice at the church. It was just me and Chrissy, though. We are starting on our Christmas dance. It's a fast song, and kind of difficult. We ended up being there till about 6:45 and still only got the beginning part figured out.
Last night I made a baked pasta dish for tonight's dinner. I was tired, but I knew I didn't want to make it today. I just wanted to be able to pop it in the oven today. Then after that last night, and also today, I've been relaxing, reading, watching tv, and other random things. I got some more stuff done for kids church, more planning...and I also got some christmas gifts wrapped. I've never been this early before.
Tomorrow will be a day of appointments and errands, a little bit of cleaning, a little bit of baking, and church at night.

7:27 pm - Kids Fall-Nighter 2009

The kids all-nighter was awesome! Probably one of the best we've had. The kids had a great time, and I think the best part for me was that I actually had a few adults there helping me. Adults. Not teenagers. Adults. This is amazing to me. Plus all the things I planned seemed to go well.
I'm uploading pictures to myspace first, and that will take a while since there are 94 pictures. Later I'll upload the pictures to photobucket so I can post them here. Plus I'll tell about thewholenighteverylittledetailonandonandonlikeIalwaysdo...because I'm sure you're all just dying to read about it. ;)
As far as the rest of yesterday goes, I went back to my eye doctor in the morning. My eyes have been somewhat less irritated this week, but that's probably because I haven't tried to put my contacts in. And the tricky thing is that my vision has been really blurry lately...like, I could barely see the eye chart, especially with my left eye...so he is kinda stumped. He kinda said it almost seems like it's not an allergic reaction because it's not really following the pattern. If it was allergic, the eyedrops should have taken care of it. He said it could be several different cornea-related things, but my corneas seem fine...so then he went back to saying possibly an allergic thing, but basically he doesn't know.
For now he said to stop the latest eyedrops, continue to wear my glasses, and I'm going back for another appointment on Wednesday.

On Saturday, Jenny had planned a little birthday get-together for me at a little nearby restaurant. It wasn't a surprise, but I didn't really know who all was going to be there. We had a little room all to ourselves, and Jenny had brought some candles and pretty decorations. The food was great, and Jenny planned a few cute games, including one where I laughed really hard and one where I almost cried because people had to say nice things about me, and some of the ladies filled up with tears as they spoke. Jenny also made her yummy ice cream cake that she always makes, and I swear they gave me the biggest piece ever.
I didn't open my gifts there because we spent our time just talking and stuff like that, but I came home and opened everything...and I had such nice things! I decided to set it all up so I could take a picture to show you. But even better than the gifts was that I came away that night just feeling so loved, and loving all these people (even more than usual) who are basically like family to me.

I feel like all I ever talk about in here is my eyes anymore...
But I did take everyone's advice and go back to the doctor today, even though I had to miss two hours of work to do it. He said it doesn't really matter that I didn't finish the antibiotic...a week should have taken care of it.
He seems to think it wasn't a bacterial infection at all, but that it's some sort of allergic reaction to...something, but we don't know what. He prescribed me an eyedrop that, I think, he said is a combination of antibiotic and steroid, to reduce the inflammation. Then I'm going to see him again on Friday and go from there. And of course, I can't wear my contacts, and I can't even think about using my other eyedrops for my other eye condition.
He said it doesn't seem like I'm having a reaction to something that I came into contact with once...he used the example of walking through a spray of something and getting it in my eyes. So it's most likely that it has something to do with my contacts, but he said my contact solution is a good kind, so who knows...
I hope we get this figured out eventually.

My eyes are bad again...probably worse than before. :(
I didn't know the rule about having to use an antibiotic until it runs out...or at least if I did know it, I didn't realize it applied to eyedrops, too. I was also a little confused because the first bottle of eyedrops I got from the ER, said to just use them for a week. Then when I got the refill from my eyedoctor, it didn't say anything about how long to use them for.
So basically I used the first bottle for about two and a half days, went without it for three days (when someone at the kids party dumped them out...did I mention that in here?). Then used the refills for a week...without putting my contacts in at all during that whole time period. By the time I put my contacts in last Monday, it didn't seem like I had any symptoms anymore.
By about Wednesday evening, my one eye started to bother me...but honestly I couldn't tell if it was the recent conjunctivitis, or the other one that I've had for three years, because I've had to stop using my other eydrops while I've used the recent ones. But by last night, I could tell it was the more recent one.
So now I've been using the eyedrops again since Friday evening, and they don't seem to be doing anything. I'm not sure what to do...I hate to go back to the doctor because I feel like it's my fault.

Good weekend! My mom and I went shopping yesterday in Erie, and of course we ate at the Country Buffet for lunch. And I finally found some cute long-sleeved shirts, which I've had a hard time finding lately. There's always just 3/4 sleeves, which aren't warm enough for me. And then when I do find full sleeves, they are just plain and boring.
I tried to start a little bit of Christmas shopping, too, but I am way too indecisive to start this early. I feel like I have to see all my options first, before deciding on something.
Today was great because I went to church and actually got to go to church. Imagine that! In September on my week off from kids church, I got lazy and stayed home. And then in October on my week off, I was sick and had to stay home. So it's been a long time, and I really enjoyed it.
Back to work tomorrow, but now I only have ten more days of work until my vacation!

Kids Church this morning was really good. We had a nice group of kids...some kids who only come every once in a while showed up...and they were all pretty enthusiastic today, which is nice.
We've also had a group of kids who walk to church by themselves. They've been coming since about September. (One of the boys used to come with his mom, but now he lives with his dad...and the other kids are his dad's girlfriend's kids.) There are five of them altogether, but they don't all come every week. And you know they must enjoy it because they walk in the cold all by themselves. They actually go to the school I'm at, so I see them almost every day, and they run to hug me...and I can kinda say to them that I hope to see them on Sunday.
Last week two of them asked Jesus into their heart, which is so cool! And today their parents came with them! I think that's so exciting. And it turns out their mom already knows one of the women in our church, so they sorta have another connection here. God is good. :)
We had a missionary for church tonight, and his message was really good...about God using unexpected heros. Really good. And now onto another week, with my early-morning meeting tomorrow that I hate so much. But only three weeks and then my vacation!

I guess I could write about the other things I did yesterday, besides going to the ER...
We had our usual practice after church, except at 5:45 instead of 5:15, because I worked a little later. Then Cindy helped me make up the bags for the Hallelujah Party. I was so grateful for her help, and also for staying at the church with me. It gets kind of creepy to be there by yourself after dark... Oh, and church was canceled last night. That's why I was able to do the bags last night instead of tonight.
Today was kind of an easy day for my client, because they did a lot of fun halloween-type activities. And after lunch, they just had chorus and then their harvest party. Then I worked at his house for 2 1/2 hours after school. Stars, the after-school program that he's in, was canceled today.
Tonight I have a lot of laundry to do, and some cleaning. And tomorrow I have the day off! I do have a dentist appointment, though, and some errands to run for the party and also for my own stuff. It should be a good day, though. :)

I finally broke down and went to the ER tonight for my eyes...I couldn't take it anymore. They are so bad, with or without my contacts in. It turns out I have some kind of bacterial conjunctivitis. Not the typical "pink eye" type that you think of when you hear the word conjunctivitis, but another kind.
Also not the other conjuncitivitis that I've had for the past two years. That one is giant papillary conjunctivitis. The one I have now seems like it was caused by...or a part of...the cold/flu/upper respiratory thing I've had this past month.
I still use an over-the-counter eyedrop call zaditor twice a day for the GPC, but she said to hold off on using that until this new conjunctivitis goes away. So my prescription eyedrops are supposed to be put in every two hours for a week, which means I have to wear my glasses. Then if I don't start feeling a little bit of relief in about two days, I have to call my eye doctor.
Thank God it seems to be only one eye at a time that gets bad. Last night it was my left eye. Tonight it's my right eye. So for now I just have to wink at everyone I pass, basically. ;)

I don't mean to keep complaining about this, but my eyes are still bothering me. I really need to go see the doctor to find out what's wrong with them.
In happy news, I watched the Charlie Brown special tonight on tv!! I feel like it's officially the start of the Thanksgiving/Christmas season! ;)

9:19 pm - Still I notice You when change begins, and I am braced for colder winds...

Today was the best I've felt physically in about three weeks. It was so nice just to stand there without coughing or sneezing or my head hurting or my eyes burning. It made the day so much easier. Plus it was beautiful out. If only every fall day could be like this...
I feel blah today for other reasons, but I'm thankful that at least I felt better physically. That makes a world of difference.
